Job Summary
The Construction Training Facilitator position is responsible for all in class
construction training as part of the Community Builders Training Program. This
includes in class construction theory curriculum delivery, in shop skills development,
onsite support for trainees as they work alongside CB trainers, and all administrative
and planning required to implement the construction portion of the training
program.
Responsibilities
Daily
● Preparation of Daily Lesson plans according to established curriculum
● Delivery of construction theory curriculum in the classroom setting and construction skills development in the shop setting
● Plan in shop or offsite projects to facilitate training including managing a budget, ordering or soliciting donations for material, and planning for time and space in the shop
● Support Trainers onsite in training and coaching as requested
● Support Trainees onsite
○ When a trainee is struggling with a particular skill
○ When other issues arise that require additional support for the trainer
○ On a regular basis when your presence will be beneficial to the training experience
● Ensure trainees are scheduled with appropriate mentors every two weeks tomatch learning outcomes and organisational needs
● Provide additional training in shop when a trainee requires specific attention, or when trainees cannot be onsite with trainers
● Overall organisation and cleanliness of shop and training centre
● Conducting Two-Way reviews with Trainees to provide feedback throughout their time in the program in coordination with the Training Program Facilitator.As Needed
● Attend meetings with key stakeholders to ensure alignment with
organisational strategies as invited or requested by the Executive Director or
Manager of Program Delivery
● Assist in planning skills training for staff to meet program goals & outcomes
when asked
● Assist in ongoing training program improvements and updates
● Assist Trainer Development Manager in aligning onsite training and in shop
curriculum.
● Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
● Minimum 5 years experience working in residential construction including:
○ Concrete prep or repair, demolition, framing, insulation, drywall,
painting, trim & doors, kitchen instals, tile, flooring, roofing, exterior
cladding, & landscape related tasks
○ Knowledgeable with a full range of materials, methods and tools
involved in construction projects
● Minimum 3 years as a teacher/instructor/trainer with knowledge of best
practice teaching techniques and adult learning styles.
● Minimum 2 years experience working in a supervisory capacity
● Valid Class G Licence and satisfactory driving record
● Proficient in the following programs and softwares:
○ G-Suite
■ Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Calendar, Gmail
○ Slack

Work Conditions

Job Summary
The Lead Hand supports the Construction Teams in the day-to-day onsite tasks. The
Lead Hand takes instruction from the Working Foreman to complete the necessary
tasks and duties for each respective job site. The Lead Hand is expected to lead and
supervise 1-3 General Labourers or Trainees in various construction tasks. Under the
supervision and guidance of the Foreman, the Lead Hand is a Trainer when Trainees
are on site, working one on one or one on two with Trainees to allow them to learn on
site. Trainers should ensure safety and accuracy in training.
Lead Hands are responsible to ensure that the jobs on site are able to continue and
move forward even when your Foreman is absent (for short periods).
All CB employees are expected to make their best effort to create a positive and safe
learning experience for trainees. If any circumstances arise where this is not possible,
or when in doubt, Lead Hand’s are expected to bring this to the attention of their
foreman. Trainer requirements and responsibilities are subject to change at the sole
discretion of the organization as we continually look for ways to improve our training

Responsibilities
● Site setup and teardown – Ensure Health and Safety equipment and
information is available and clearly identified when required
● Load & unload tools and materials
● Maintain shop inventory of consumables such as PPE items, sanitation
products, fasteners, frequently used products, etc.
● Maintain cleanliness on site and in shop
● Ensure tools and supplies are returned to appropriate places
● Assist in various interior or exterior construction or landscape related tasks at
any point in construction process, including but not limited to:
o Demolition & Cleanup
o Concrete Work
o Framing
o Insulation & Drywall
o Painting & Staining
o Tile & Flooring
o Trim & Doors
o Exterior Finishes (windows, siding, roofing, soffit, fascia, eaves)
o Landscaping
● Maintain ongoing communication with the Working Foreman and Lead Hand
● Report any unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately
● Ensure a safe and organized work environment
● Maintain daily, accurate time cards as per daily tasks
● Supervise and direct 1-3 General Labourers or trainees to ensure efficiency on
site
● Act as Trainer to Trainees on site
o Provide leadership and guidance to Trainees as they learn and practice
skills on site.
o Ensure safety and accuracy of training according to CB Construction
SOPs
o Provide feedback on Trainees performance
o Must have patience, good people skills, good motivational skills
o Ability to teach and communicate effectively to team members with
different learning styles and abilities
o Ability to hold people accountable to their work and goals in a
supportive manner
● Maintain daily, accurate time cards as per daily tasks
● Attend company meetings
● Collect & deliver honest feedback to Supervisors on the performance of
Labourers to contribute to performance evaluations (2-Ways)

Job Summary
The Working Foreman leads a Construction Team in the day-to-day onsite tasks. The

the support of their lead hand. The Working Foreman is also a Trainer when Trainees

● Lead Site Specific Construction Projects as assigned
o Direct Lead Hands and Labourers, and perform the following tasks to a
high standard of quality & efficiency:
▪ Demolition & Cleanup
▪ Concrete Work
▪ Framing
▪ Insulation & Drywall
▪ Painting & Staining
▪ Tile & Flooring
▪ Trim & Doors
▪ Exterior Finishes (windows, siding, roofing, soffit, fascia)
▪ Landscaping
o Maintain ongoing communication with the General Supervisor to
ensure job efficiency including updating Slack channels and
completing Foremen reports daily
o Ensure projects stay on time and on budget
o Ensure all materials, tools, PPE and equipment required to complete a
job is on site each day – prepare and submit material lists in advance
o Unlock and lock work sites at the beginning and end of each workday
and maintain security of door codes by not sharing with Lead Hand and
Labourers
o Complete tasks in a timely manner, above industry standards.
● Leadership and Training
o Manage the skilled labour on job sites to ensure productivity &
efficiency
▪ Provide Feedback and Corrective/Disciplinary actions to Lead
Hands and Labourers as required
▪ Complete 2 way reviews of Lead Hands and Labourer at regular
intervals
▪ Teach & mentor Lead Hand and Labourers in construction related
skills
● Approve timecards daily for all Lead Hand and Labourers
● Maintain personal daily, accurate time cards as per daily tasks
● Communicate daily expectations and goals effectively with all team members
● Act as Trainer to Trainees on site
o Provide leadership and guidance to Trainees as they learn and practice
skills on site.
o Ensure safety and accuracy of training according to CB Construction
SOPs
o Provide feedback on Trainees performance
o Provide guidance to Lead Hands and Labourers in their role as Trainers
o Ensure time cards are completed accurately as per daily tasks
● Health and Safety
o Responsible for maintaining the highest standards of workplace health
and safety and supervising the safe practices of the team in accordance
with all local health and safety laws and regulations
o Ensure a safe and organised work environment
o Comply with all company policies and regulations and hold others
accountable to them as well.
● Customer Service
o Communicate with clients in a polite and courteous manner as
necessary or when asked by your Supervisor
o Work with trades and subcontractors to accomplish project goals
