Grading Foreman – Sewer, Water & Earthworks
Simcoe County
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Grading Foreman to lead field crews on sewer, water, and earthworks projects. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring grading accuracy, utility installation quality, and overall site coordination for municipal and civil infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
•Supervise grading operations for roadworks, utility corridors, building pads, and site development
•Oversee installation of watermain, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and related underground infrastructure
•Interpret civil drawings, survey stakes, cut sheets, and municipal specifications
•Coordinate daily activities with site supervisors, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors
•Ensure proper compaction, trench backfill, and subgrade preparation to meet project standards
•Monitor grades using laser levels, GPS systems, and survey equipment
•Lead and mentor equipment operators and labourers to maintain productivity and quality
•Conduct daily safety meetings, enforce safety protocols, and maintain a hazard-free worksite
•Track progress, complete daily reports, and communicate material or equipment needs
•Identify and resolve site issues proactively to keep projects on schedule

Qualifications
•Extensive experience in civil construction, specifically sewer, water, and earthworks
•Proven leadership experience as a Foreman, Lead Hand, or Senior Operator
•Strong understanding of grading principles, compaction requirements, and municipal standards
•Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, profiles, and specifications
•Proficiency with grade checking tools (laser, GPS, levels)
•Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team-leadership skills
•Valid driver’s license; clean driving record
•Physically capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions

Preferred Assets
•Experience with municipal infrastructure projects (roads, subdivisions, utilities)
•Familiarity with GPS-guided equipment
•Knowledge of OPSS/OPS
•Safety certifications such as First Aid, WHMIS, Confined Space, or Traffic Control

The City of Orillia is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the position of Project Manager.

Reporting to the Director of Capital Projects, the Project Manager is responsible for the project management and administration of capital infrastructure projects which include roads, sewers, watermains, parks, and collection and distribution facilities, assist with infrastructure programs and manage Project Officials.

We are a premier real estate development company specializing in commercial projects across
Ontario. Our commitment to quality, safety, and customer satisfaction drives our success. We are
excited to announce the development of a state-of-the-art 8,000 sq. ft. Event Centre in the beautiful
Muskoka region. We are seeking an experienced Site Superintendent for an 11-month contract to
join our team and lead this project.

Position Overview:
The Site Superintendent will oversee and manage all on-site construction activities for the Event
Centre project. This leadership role requires a proactive individual who is detail-oriented, safetyconscious,
and possesses excellent communication skills. The Site Superintendent will ensure that the
project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
– Site Management: Oversee all aspects of the construction site, ensuring compliance with safety,
quality, and site regulations.
– Project Coordination: Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and the project team to ensure the
timely delivery of materials and services.
– Schedule Management: Develop and maintain the project schedule, ensuring that work is
completed on time and proactively addressing any potential delays.
– Quality Control: Conduct regular inspections of work performed to ensure quality standards are
met, addressing any deficiencies in a timely manner.
– Safety Oversight: Promote and enforce all safety protocols on-site, conducting regular safety
meetings and training sessions for staff and subcontractors.
– Communication: Serve as the main point of contact for the project team, stakeholders, and clients,
providing updates and addressing concerns promptly.
– Documentation: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, site progress, and incidents, and
submit reports to project management.
– Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the construction process,
applying critical thinking and effective decision-making skills.
Qualifications:
– Proven experience as a Site Superintendent or in a similar role within the commercial construction
industry.
– Extensive knowledge of construction processes, safety standards, and building codes.
– Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse
team.
– Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
– Proficient in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
– Strong verbal and written communication skills.
– Relevant certifications (e.g., Ontario Constructor’s License, First Aid/CPR, WHMIS) are an asset.

Education:
– Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent
work experience.
