Founded in 1974, Hapamp Elmvale Limited has earned a reputation as one of Simcoe County’s most trusted and respected utility contractors.
We are searching for another Estimator to join our Team. This is an in-office full-time position. This position requires the ability to analyze information, specifications, proposals, and electrical layouts, to provide accurate costing. The estimating process includes reading drawings, writing proposals, and obtaining costs for materials and subcontractors.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•Perform detailed, timely and well-organized cost estimates for civil construction projects.
•Review and assess tender specifications, drawings, and reports to make the necessarycalculations for pricing of tenders.
•Identify and evaluate risks associated with each project.
•Co-ordinate project material orders and sub-contractors for projects
•Assist project management teams with change management process (i.e. clarifyingchanges, help resolve issues, and price change orders)
•Prepare pre-qualification and/or tender submissions and present to clients.
•Compute quantities using estimating software and/or an excel spreadsheet.
•Attend site visits and interact with clients during tendering phase to determine scope of work andrequired contents of estimate.
•Arrange Electrical Safety Authority inspections where required.

Requirements:
•Experience in civil construction
•Relevant post-secondary education (Electrical, CET or P.Eng.) is considered an asset.
•3+ years of progressive experience in heavy civil construction cost estimating with fieldexperience is preferred.
•Computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite Programs & QuickBooks
•Ability to analyze historical project data and apply to present bidding strategies.
•Effective verbal/written communication skills, attention to detail and accuracy
•Analytical, self-directed, organized, and proactive

Position Title: Estimating/Quantity Control/ Project Manager
Reports to: Senior Estimator/Superintendent

Duties Under Estimator
 Review with management regarding tender opportunities and prioritizing these opportunities
 Prepare work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications and related documents
 Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates (quantity take off)
 Note discrepancies in the tender information and bring to the attention of management for discussion on how to deal with the discrepancy
 Present prepared quote to management including the quantity take off information
 Liaison with the Contract Manager/Site Superintendent regarding important details relating to the tender and how it was quoted
 Consult with the Site Super/Foreman during the tender stage
 Maintain a continuous flow of information back and forth between the site and office
 Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
 Confer with contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates during the project life
 Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
 Provide the administration department a breakdown of a successful tender so administration can track actual to budget during the project life
 Track changes and site instructions and prepare reports for management that detail the status of all change orders during the project life
 Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
 Establish and maintain tendering process, and participate in negotiations
 Establish standard hour and related cost data to effect cost reduction
 Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources
 Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time
 Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems and bring to the attention of management for discussion
 Developing specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work
 Encouraging and building mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members
 Identifying information by categorizing, estimating, recognizing differences or similarities, and detecting changes in circumstances or events
 Using computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to estimate, enter data, or process information
 Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to your job.
 Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork
 Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems
 Providing documentation, detailed instructions, drawings, or specifications to tell others about how the project was estimated
 Entering, transcribing, recording, storing, or maintaining information in written or electronic form
 Providing guidance and expert advice to management and site on technical, systems-, or process-related topics
 Meet in the field with the Site Inspector to confirm installed quantities to expedite the Payment Certificate process.
 Preconstruction survey with inspection & photographs of site

Working Conditions
 Commence work at 8:00am
 Day finishes when work schedule for that day has been completed or 4pm, whichever is later
 Required to keep any company vehicle clean, free of damage and organized
