WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION
Helping women in construction network, learn,
succeed and lead in Simcoe County.
The BCA knows that many women are helping to lead the growth and success of the construction industry in Simcoe County. Yet there aren’t many resources available to support their career and its unique challenges.
The BCA’s Women in Construction group is the answer! This group provides opportunities that will help women to network, learn, succeed and lead in the constantly changing industrial, commercial and institutional construction industry.
Meetings are held the 4th Wednesday of every month from 5pm to 6pm at the BCA office, 200 Brock St. Barrie. Membership fee is $125 + HST for a current BCA member and $150 + HST for a non BCA member. Fee applies after your first meeting.
The Women in Construction Group is pleased to offer our annual bursary to female students entering into post-Secondary or continuing education with a focus on skilled trades. The bursary is awarded in May or June of each year. Details on the application process can be found here
What We Do
- Organize and encourage professional networking and social events with women working in construction.
- Host educational seminars, training and workshops with a female focus and relevant guest speakers.
- Share information, news, innovations and best practices to help women succeed in their industry.
- Promote leadership opportunities within the industry.
- Advocate for the success of women in construction and raise their profile and visibility.
- Have fun!
Who Can Join
If you’re a woman working in any role at a business, organization or employer in the construction industry, you are welcome to join. This includes:
- Owners, architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, manufacturers and suppliers.
- Managers, supervisors, safety professionals, project managers, superintendents, estimators and labourers.
- Administrative, accounting, sales and HR.
- Government agencies.
- Students / apprentices (consider joining our Young
Leaders program, too!)
Membership with the Barrie Construction Association is not mandatory in order to join the Women in Construction group.
